Sorry, iWatch! Android Wear will dominate our wrist

By launching Android Wear, Google has staked its claim to the title master of wearable tech. Everything that has gone before should be viewed as a precursor. However, it hasn't launched something tangible like a watch or Google Glass. In fact, Google hasn't released a real, physical product at all. Instead, it is an entire operating system dedicated to making wearables awesome. From what we've seen so far, Android Wear has the potential to live up to its promise.

Google wants Apple to taste its own medicine

Taking control of a burgeoning new market this way, even when the end product looks so cool, is a brave and ballsy strategy, and a proven winner. It's one Google has seen in action before. When Apple announced the iPhone back in 2007, Android wasn't even around, and it took a lot of work for Google to catch up. Eventually, as we all know, Android became the dominant smartphone OS; but if it had simply beaten Apple to the punch, things would have been much easier.

Android Wear isn't only bad news for Apple, it's bad news for the many smartwatches already on sale.

With Android Wear, that's exactly what it hopes to do. Apple may or may not have some kind of wearable product ready to launch later this year. Tim Cook has expressed an interest, but as it stands today, Apple's got nothing. Microsoft, if its possible, has even less, because even if it does suddenly surprise us all with a Windows Phone-only smartwatch, will anyone really pay much attention? Probably not.

Android Wear is Google's way of saying "We know this is the next big thing, and this time it's ours for the taking."

However, an OS alone isn't going to win the wearable race on its own, so Google has assembled a team of manufacturers and other companies to create some cracking hardware. So far, it's Google's besties, LG and Motorola, that have come up with the goods. LG announced the G Watch, while Motorola has come up with the Moto 360. It's the latter which will have those on the outside looking in quaking in their boots. Why? It has a round face – you know, like 90 percent of the watches we already wear. That means a color touchscreen, Google Now integration, voice control, and judging by the pictures, a design we wouldn't be embarrassed to strap to our wrists. Samsung, Asus, HTC and Qualcomm are also onboard, along with an actual watch company, Fossil. Even Imagination – a loyal Apple supplier – will join the gang with its MIPS processors.

Google and its clan aren't underestimating Apple, and the G Watch and Moto 360 are both scheduled for a summer release. This is crucial if Google is to make the most of its head start. If the iWatch is coming, we doubt it'll be here before September. If LG, Motorola, and others sell these devices with their top Android phones, the combination could be enough to tempt plenty of possible iPhone 6 holdouts over to Android, which is exactly what Google wants.

Death to all those which came before

Android Wear isn't only bad news for Apple, it's bad news for the many smartwatches already on sale. The only vaguely successful smartwatch not running Android at the moment is the Pebble. It has a strong community behind it, works with both Android and iOS, plus the Pebble Steel is a critical success. However, its black and white software is going to look pretty old fashioned next to the Moto 360.

What could possibly go wrong?

The introduction of Android Wear has all the signs of becoming a strategic triumph, sending Google to the wearable tech frontline. Surely nothing can go wrong? Well, there are one or two things.

Not everyone is convinced their smartphone needs a companion device.

Maybe people don't want smartwatches: First, there is already a customer apathy towards wearable tech. We're constantly told the market is only going to get bigger and more popular, and that design is the reason no-one is buying the current crop of smartwatches, but if the Google Glass backlash has told us anything, it's that not everyone is convinced their smartphone needs a companion device. If regular people don't flock to buy the Moto 360 or its kin, then it'll be proof the world still isn't ready for wearable tech, or that the industry just isn't giving the public what it wants.

Motorola's watch sure isn't ready yet: We'd leave it there on what could go wrong for Google, but after watching Motorola's Moto 360 Hangout, we're unsure again. During the hangout, Motorola didn't show its watch and didn't have anything to say about it either, except that it has a round screen. The watch was sitting on a table, and strapped to the hosts wrists, but it stayed hidden from our excited gaze. Why? It may not even be close to finished.

Motorola's a ship adrift in the water, waiting for the new captain to arrive, and this could have an impact on its ability to deliver such an innovative device on time. Now we've seen the Moto 360, it won't matter if the square LG G Watch arrives first, we'll wait for the cool round one. But it'll only be for so long. Google has an ambitious plan for Android Wear, but it's at the mercy of other companies to put it into action.

iWatch could be so good that it redefines everything: Apple has done it before, and it could do it again. If the iWatch blows everyone away, Android Wear could look dated and undesirable the moment we see the real iWatch. We're far from convinced this will happen, but we never count Apple out. It's hiding something.

Google's about to flatten the competition

Provided it can live up to the promise shown in the videos, it's not hobbled by missed deadlines, Apple's iWatch doesn't redefine everything, and the buying public likes what it sees, Android Wear could become the wearable tech equivalent of a prize fighter in a street brawl. A right hook will take down Microsoft, and a devastating upper cut will send Apple reeling. LG, Motorola, and all the rest will take their place behind the powerhouse, while Samsung will be silenced with a slap.

Yes there are some big "ifs," but Google knows what's at stake here. It has been on the receiving end of a similar shock before, and doesn't intend to be caught out twice. Android Wear is a decisive, powerful, and potentially game-winning punch, delivered at exactly the right moment. We're excited, and you should be, too.

MailTracker adds confirmation receipts to iPhone’s Mail app

Curious if that email you sent ever got read by the eyes you intended it for? MailTracker for iOS can provide you with confirmation to your question. The app acts as an add-on for Apple's Mail app, providing you with a receipt for when emails you sent have been read so you know when your messages have been received.

MailTracker works in real time to record the actions performed to the emails you send. It not only tells you when your email has been viewed, but also how long its been looked at and where it was viewed. If it's been looked at on multiple occasions, the app will make you aware of that as well. Any time your message is interacted with by its recipient, you'll know about it.

The handiest part of MailTracker is that it's not a stand alone mail client, so you don't have to abandon Apple Mail and adapt a whole new system. The app makers specifically state: "MailTracker is not a mail app. We don't want to change your email workflow, you continue to use your iPhone's Mail App." It simply links up to your Apple Mail account and provides you with a receipt for your email.

Two version of MailTracker are available: The free version which provides you with support for two email accounts and the Pro version which supports five email accounts and adds a search and feed history. The Pro version can be unlocked via in-app purchase for $5 a month or purchased for $45 annually.

A full-size 3D-printed house is under construction in Amsterdam

From life-saving implants to cars and furniture, it seems that the capabilities of 3D printing are constantly expanding. Now work on a full-scale house has begun in Amsterdam, an ambitious proof-of-concept project that is expected to take three years to complete.

Dus Architects is the firm behind the building project, which uses an industrial-scale KamerMaker (Room Builder) 3D printer to produce plastic parts that are then locked together to form walls, floors and furniture. Eventually, the house will have 13 separate rooms, with lightweight concrete used to provide structural support and insulation.

"We're still perfecting the technology," Dus Architect's Hedwig Heinsman told the Guardian. "We will continue to test over the next three years, as the technology evolves… It's an experiment. We called it the Room Maker, but it's also a conversation maker." President Obama was shown some of the prototype designs during his visit to the Netherlands last week.

If the technology becomes practical enough to be used on a more widespread basis, it could change the way buildings are constructed. Waste and transportation costs would be dramatically reduced, while 3D-printed homes and offices could theoretically be recycled when they were no longer needed. The material currently being used by the project developers is a bioplastic mix which is made up of plant oil and microfibres.

"This could revolutionize how we make our cities," says Heinsman. "This is only the beginning, but there could be endless possibilities, from printing functional solutions locally in slums and disaster areas, to high-end hotel rooms that are individually customized and printed in marble dust."

After three weeks of work, the 3D Print Canal House team have put together a 3 meter-high sample corner that weighs 180kg. As more parts are completed, they will be stacked up in the style of a Lego structure. To view the plans in more detail, and to see images from the construction area, head over to 3D Print Canal House's official website.

Here are the latest rumors swirling around the 2014 Apple MacBook Ai

The original MacBook Air spurred a revolution in notebook computing when it was first released back in 2008. Take it out of the picture, and solid state drives would have seen slower adoption, Ultrabooks would never come to be, and laptops might still have more than a couple USB ports.

Hey, we didn't say revolutions were always good.

Over the past two years though, the Air has fallen behind its competitors. The system's low-resolution display, generic design and relatively anemic specifications have turned the former revolutionary into a tamed budget option. Apple is due to refresh the system however, and we've heard a few rumors that hint at what the company might do with the next version of the MacBook Air.

12 is the new 13

The most dramatic rumor making the rounds says that Apple will introduce a new 12-inch model to its lineup. This model would entirely ditch the mechanical mouse button integrated into the current touchpad, and may use force and optical sensors to offer a new slew of touch gestures.

While adding a 12-incher may seem superfluous, there's reason to think that this rumor has merit. The current 13-inch MacBook Air is a bit large for its size because of the relatively large bezels surrounding its display. As already evidenced by the 11-inch MacBook Air, Apple has room to reduce the overall width of the system without compromising the size of the keyboard. A thin-bezel 12-inch model could be nearly as small as the 11-inch MacBook Air, but could still provide a more usable display and a larger touchpad.

Does this mean that the 11-inch and 13-inch models could go the way of the dinosaur? The rumors don't comment on that, but we believe that at least one of them will remain. We think a thin-bezel 12-inch model that incorporates other rumored advances would sell for a couple hundred more than the current 13-incher, giving Apple an incentive to keep one of the existing Airs as a budget option. If anything disappears, it'll be the 11-inch Air model, which is arguably the company's least appealing laptop.

Fanless for the win

Attached to the rumor of a 12-inch model is a claim that Apple may go fanless with the new Air, but won't be switching to ARM processors to make this happen. Taking out the fan assembly would make the system silent and help Apple set a new benchmark for thin-ness.

Going fanless isn't unprecedented. HP already has a passively cooled 13-inch dockable, the HP Spectre 13t x2, which was made possible by packing it with an Intel Core i5-4202Y CPU. That processor's thermal design power of only 11.5 watts makes the inclusion of a cooling fan unnecessary. In fact, HP's fanless dockable was the coolest, quietest PC we've ever reviewed. There's no reason why Apple couldn't use a similar Intel chip to create a fanless MacBook Air.

However, if Apple were to go down this path, the new MacBook Air wouldn't be much quicker compared to its predecessor. We doubt buyers would mind though, as the Air has never sold on performance, and a fanless version could be very thin indeed. The tablet portion of the HP Spectre 13t x2 is only .27 inches thick, and it contains all the processing hardware. We doubt a fanless 12-inch MacBook Air would be that thin, but a thickness between three-tenths and five-tenths of an inch would seem likely should Apple ditch the fan.

Retina. Finally. Please?

The likely announcement of a new MacBook Air has re-kindled rumors that Apple will bestow it with a Retina display. This time around however, the addition of Retina seems almost mandatory. Virtually every competitor has at least a 1080p display, and some (like the Toshiba Kirabook and the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro) have gone beyond that. Apple is now playing catch-up.

We think the timing of the new 12-inch MacBook Air rumor syncs nicely with Apple's decision not to introduce Retina in the MacBook Air last year. If Apple retained separate 11-inch and 13-inch models, it would have to come up with two separate Retina panels. Though that's far from impossible, it's certainly more expensive. If Apple introduces a single new, 12-inch model with Retina instead, the company would reduce its costs and be able to reveal an "all-new" Air, rather than a mere revision of older hardware.

The rumor mill says that a 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina could have a display resolution of 2304×1440. This unusual resolution would give the display a 16:10 aspect ratio,  like what's found on the MacBook Pro, rather than the "widescreen" 16:9 found with previous MacBook Air notebooks. Switching to the taller ratio would be a good choice, because it would allow for more usable display space and a larger touchpad (if the screen is taller, the lower half of the laptop must be longer, too).

The 2304×1440 panel would come to a 226 PPI, which is slightly less dense than the MacBook Pro 13 with Retina. Apple could also stick to the more conventional resolution of 2560×1600, but this would result in a density of 251 pixels per inch, which could throw off the carefully-tuned high resolution graphics Apple has built into Mac OS X.

Conclusion

Individually, these rumors seem mundane. However, when digested together, we think they paint a clear picture. It seems like Apple is likely to release a 12-inch, fanless MacBook Air with a 2304×1440 Retina display. Though it won't be much quicker than past MacBook Air notebooks, it will make up for that by wearing an absurdly thin chassis and sleek, thin-bezel design. With that in mind, we think the entry-level price for the 2014 MacBook Air will be between $1,199 and $1,399.

The current 11-inch and 13-inch models may remain, though if one does get the axe, it'll likely be the 11-inch MacBook Air. If that happens, the 13-incher could see a minor revision and a possible price drop to $999.

If all of this comes true, the new 2014 MacBook Air may be a worthy successor to the original. The 12-inch MacBook Air could be much thinner than any competitor, offer a superior display, and modernize the look and feel of the aging laptop.

Rumors are rumors though, so all of this may turn out to be wishful thinking, but we very much hope they do come true.

Nova Launcher

Striking a great balance between speed and customization, there really isn't very much about the aesthetic of your home screen that you can't tweak with the comprehensive Nova launcher.

Make your Android tablet's home screen look just like an iPad with this awesome launcher. The bright iOS 7 icon style and the animation transitions are all there, with plenty of customization options, too.

Widgets

Fancy Widgets

Customize your clock and weather widget to get the exact look you want, or download a new one from the many options available in the built-in Fancy Widgets marketplace, which is plentiful.

Buzz Widget

You'll need Buzz Launcher to get access to the full range of community-created widgets, but there are a few good options in the basic app, and a powerful editor enables you to tweak them.

Zooper Widget

A few examples give you starting points and the in-depth editing options allow you to customize every aspect of your widget. The depth of this app is fantastic, especially considering it's free.

Basic Utilities

Beautiful Timer

This app is a simple, but stunning, countdown timer. You can even set two timers at once. They'll sound an alarm at the end and they stick in the notifications shade when you close the app.

How to install Flash on an Android phone or tablet

When Google released its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system in July of 2012, Flash support on Android powered devices found itself on the cutting room floor, no longer downloadable in the Google Play Store. Convenient for watching TV on your phone or playing those addictive online games, Flash was an application that set Androids apart from the rival iPhone; for better and worse.

Yet, now that Android users must operate their phones out-of-the-box sans Flash, the want for a way to get the software again has been great. Luckily, Adobe realized this need and allows Android users to download its Flash player. To make things easier, Adobe made the download available straight from the website.

We want to point out that because Adobe is no longer supported on Android powered devices, you won't find any security updates, bug fixes, or official Adobe support. Furthermore, you may also experience some significant stability issues when downloading and using Flash. The stability issues tend to be worse with Android devices running Jelly Bean 4.1 or newer, as that operating system ditched Flash altogether.

For those looking for a Flash fix, we've put together this easy how-to guide to get Flash back on your Android phone or tablet in no time. Before we get to the rundown, you'll want to make sure that your phone or tablet is running an OS between Android 2.2, and 4.1. You can find which OS your device is running by going to Settings > About phone (or About tablet).

Note: if you are using Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) or newer, you'll want to use a stock browser other than Google Chrome for the Flash install. Chrome does not support Flash Player whatsoever for that operating system.

Yes there is some config required, but it was all straight forward and I didn't have any problems at all. I am a little concerned that they have my email credentials though. Would like some clarification on that.

1. Does not list iCloud as a mail service. Must be added as 'other.'
2. Installation is way too complicated and I'm pretty tech savvy.
3. iCloud mail failed to show up in 'Mail' app after installing.

Oculus VR exec John Carmack weighs in on Facebook acquisition

Even Oculus VR Chief Technology Officer (and id Software co-founder) John Carmack feels some surprise over the news that Facebook is set to acquire his employer, but he's got a positive, rational-minded attitude about what lies ahead. Responding in the comments section to a related Tumblr post from Anamanaguchi band member Peter Berkman, Carmack highlighted the inevitability of big business stepping in to capitalize on the growing interest in virtual reality (shared via the Oculus exec's Twitter feed).

"The experience is too obviously powerful, and it makes converts on contact," he wrote. "The fairly rapid involvement of the Titans is inevitable, and the real questions were how deeply to partner, and with who.

"Honestly, I wasn't expecting Facebook (or this soon). I have zero personal background with them, and I could think of other companies that would have more obvious synergies. However, I do have reasons to believe that they get the Big Picture as I see it, and will be a powerful force towards making it happen. You don't make a commitment like they just did on a whim."

Carmack goes on to mention that he wasn't involved with the negotiations, and that the acquisition was just as much a surprise to him as it was to anyone. "I spent an afternoon talking technology with Mark Zuckerberg, and the next week I find out that he bought Oculus."

In a subsequent post responding to other commenters, Carmack also praised the value of corporate data mining, the frequently maligned practice which is responsible for things like targeted ads. Noting that he "just can't get very worked up about it," Carmack explains why, in his mind, data mining is a positive thing to see from forward-thinking businesses.

"The idea that companies are supposed to interact with you and not pay attention has never seemed sane to me," he wrote.

"Being data driven is a GOOD thing for most companies to be. Everyone cheers the novel creative insight and bold leadership that leads to some successes, and tut tuts about companies ending up poorly by blindly following data, but cold analysis of the data is incredibly important, and I tend to think the world will be improved with more and better data analysis."

This BMW CS Vintage Concept marries classic Bimmer styling with modern day motoring

Usually, vintage cars are retrofitted with new, modern underpinnings. Sometimes, though, designers like to bring back the old with something new.

Enter the CS Vintage, which mirrors the timeless looks of the 1960s BMW E9 coupe and 2000 CS, giving it the utter simplicity found in prior generations.

The CS Vintage even manages to keep things realistic, something hard to do with a rendering. The concept in undeniably BMW looking and is set to be built off of the current 6 Series platform. The concept is probably a little larger than the original 2000 CS, but that doesn't matter considering it combines futuristic looks with classic automotive styling.

The designer, David Obendorfer, deserves some quality appraisal. He managed to bring back something Bimmer fanatics will drool over, while keeping the idea simple and realistic. Frankly, I think BMW would be silly not to adopt this concept.

Producing such a car wouldn't be unprecedented. Nissan already made such a move with its fantastic IDx. The Toyota FR-S is also a great callback to its historic sports cars.

Hopefully BMW will grasp onto Obendorfer's idea, because I want an everyday Bimmer that isn't an i3 or an M3, but something perfectly in between.

Google tightens up app store guidelines to protect users

Google has updated its Google Play Developer Program Policy in an attempt to cut down on deceptive advertising practices and other nefarious activities on the part of app developers and the third-party services they utilize. The policy changes put the onus on app coders to make sure the tools they submit to Google's store are free from shady advertising or affiliate schemes.

Apps published on Google Play may not use "promotion via deceptive ads on websites, apps or other properties" read the new guidelines. Particular emphasis is placed on pop-up adverts that try and simulate 'official' Android or app notifications. The new policy also clamps down on "tactics which cause redirection to Google Play or the download of the app without informed user action" and unsolicited use of SMS for advertising purposes.

The Developer Program Policy specifies that "ads must not simulate or impersonate the user interface of any app, or notification and warning elements of an operating system" — in other words, if it's an advert, then it has to look like an advert. Google has also reworded its guidelines on apps that include sexual content: "Apps that contain or promote pornography are prohibited; this includes sexually explicit or erotic content, icons, titles or descriptions," explains the official documentation.

Other changes, as reported by TechCrunch, include bans for any app that links to a piece of malware or that tries to modify the settings of a browser app. Developers have a couple of weeks to make sure that their apps comply with the new guidelines and resubmit them to Google Play.

Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor Share His View Saying ‘Why Rich Nigerian Pastors Milk their Poor Members’

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor in an interview with Punch yesterday bared his mind on the notion that Nigerian pastors milk their poor church members. Excerpts:

People claim churches milk the poor and live big on them. What's your take on this?
It is cheap to criticise; even to criticise what you don't understand. People don't understand what they say about the church milking the poor. Can a poor man have money to pay tithe? A man who has no job, can he pay tithe? No, he won't be able to pay. So how do you milk a man who has no milk?

In a church, you have both the poor and the rich. It is generally not the poor that finance the church. It is those with the means. A man, for example, who earns N10,000, how much is his tithe? His tithe is N1,000. A man who earns N500,000, how much is his tithe? His tithe is 10 per cent which is N50,000. How much would you milk from a man who pays a tithe of N1000?
I even hear people say that the poor give money to start schools, but their children cannot go to the schools. How will they give this money when they are poor? The truth is that, the people who actually give this money are those who have the means to do so. Those people make it possible for churches to start schools.

Now again, why do churches charge high fees in school? You didn't ask me that, but I'm just throwing that in free. People must understand that there is a standard. The church wants to maintain the standard. In those days, some people will say that when missionaries started school, it was free. Don't forget that those missionaries were being financed from different places. Who is financing us today? We are financing ourselves.

Tchidi Chikere's Response to Haters Over his Marriage with Nuella
If I got free financing, why won't we make education free? You must also understand that at the time, the cost of living was not the way it is today. The educational system of Nigeria is in serious trouble, so we need to up the standards. And to do that, you should be able to hire the best hands. If you hire the best, how do you pay them? Where do you get the money to pay them? How do you put the right infrastructure in place? How do you do many of the things that need to be done? How do you run the generators?

Why do you think we have so many poor people in the church and many rich pastors?
Remember that the pastors are pasturing both the poor and the rich. They are all in the same assembly. Both the poor and the rich.
Those who have the means in the church take time to be kind to their pastors. That is something most people don't realise. They give their pastors money, food and different things. For example, a member of the church goes to his pastor and says, 'I feel led to give you a car. Take this car.' Now the pastor has a car. Did he steal it?

As I sit here talking to you now, I can tell you that I am training almost 100 people in institutions of higher learning. Nobody is going to broadcast that. On every 26th of December, I organise what I call poverty alleviation. I have been doing it now for about eight years.

Skidmore College touts new course — on Miley Cyrus and bisexuality

Come to Skidmore. Study Miley Cyrus. The Saratoga Springs, N.Y., college is offering a new course aimed at bolstering summer class attendance: "The Sociology of Miley Cyrus: Race, Class, Gender and Media," complete with studies of her shocking shaking at the music awards and discussion of female bisexuality.

Kicking off the course will be her now-famous VMA performance — the "tweak heard 'round the world," said Carolyn Chernoff, visiting assistant professor of sociology, to the Saratogian.

"I was teaching a course called 'Youth Culture' in and out of school, and the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards became the tweak heard 'round the world," she said. "I showed that video to my class, and the students had so much to say."

So Ms. Chernoff is capitalizing on that interest with a special course on Ms. Cyrus, using the pop star "as a lens through which to explore sociological thinking about identity, entertainment, media and fame," she said, United Press International reported.

And among the themes to be discussed: The "rise of the Disney princess"; a section on "allies and appropriation"; and a third on "bisexuality, queerness and the female body," UPI reported.

Ms. Chernoff said to ABC News: "Unfortunately, the way we talk about female pop stars and female bodies, class matters, gender matters, sexuality and sexual performance matters, but race matters a lot, and the way we talk about white pop stars is quite different than how we talk about the bodies of women of color. [Ms. Cyrus] complicates representations of the female body in pop culture in some ways that are good, bad and ugly."

Study: 30 percent of U.S. adults get their news from the Facebook feed

Detailed within a study released by the Pew Research Center's Journalism Project earlier this week, three out of ten American adults get a portion of their daily news when browsing Facebook. In addition, more than three fourths of the respondents see news on Facebook when browsing their feed for other reasons and 22 percent believe that Facebook is a good place to read news each day. Interestingly, more than a third of respondents like a news organization or specific journalist on Facebook, thus social updates from those pages are laced into their news feed.

Not surprisingly, entertainment news was the most popular type of news that Facebook users like to read. Following closely behind, respondents like to read about local events, stories about sporting events, national news coverage and crime related stories. The least favorite news categories included international news, science or technology stories and business related coverage. In addition, respondents are heavily exposed to multiple types of stories as nearly half see stories on six or more topics each day.

Regarding increasing the visibility of stories on social media, half of the respondents have shared or reposted at least one news story on their Facebook feed. Approximately 46 percent have left a comment on a news story and less than 20 percents have posted photos or video of a news event.

When it comes to gender, the percentage of women that consume news on Facebook is much higher than men. Alternatively, men are more likely to read news stories posted on LinkedIn or YouTube. LinkedIn also reaches a much older demographic than the other social networks as well as a higher percentage of people that have received a bachelor's degree. Regarding engagement, Facebook users typically spend less time on news sites, even less than search visitors referred from Google.

Steven Seagal’s new bestie: Vladimir Putin, ‘a friend’ and ‘brother’

Hollywood action star Steven Seagal has gone gaga over Russia's President Vladimir Putin, calling the ex-KGBer in a lengthy interview with a government-run newspaper in Bucharest simply one of the best leaders in all the wide world.

His exact words, USA Today reported, citing Rossisskaya Gazeta: Mr. Putin is "one of the greatest living world leaders." Mr. Seagal then adds: Mr. Putin is "a friend, would like to consider him a brother."

The two hit it off over physical exercise. Mr. Putin has in recent months pushed for the government-run schools to return to old Soviet-style physical evaluation programs for students. And Mr. Seagal, 61, has made several appearances with the Russian leader to promote a healthier and more active lifestyle for youth.

Mr. Seagal also took occasion in the newspaper interview to slam America for its policy on Ukraine.

"[I'm] an American, and I love my country," but the current Ukraine policy from the White House is "idiotic," he said, USA Today reported.

"It's no secret that I have Republican views, and policies of Obama does not appeal to me," Mr. Seagal said in the report. "In many ways, it is not even his fault, but the people who are in his inner circle who have views on world politics are diametrically opposed to Russia. In my opinion, a situation where the U.S. and Russia are on opposite sides of the fence is abnormal. And I see my task is to do everything to facilitate the normalization of relations."

Mr. Seagal's friendship with Mr. Putin reminds of another notable American star, former NBA-er Dennis Rodman, and his declared love for North Korean despot Kim Jong-un.

In January, Mr. Rodman attended an exhibition basketball match he helped stage in North Korea for Mr. Kim, kicking off the game by singing a brief "happy birthday" song to the North Korean leader to much applause. Mr. Rodman has also on previous occasions referred to Mr. Kim as a "friend for life," various media have reported.

David Cassidy sentenced to rehab in DUI case

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge has sentenced 1970s teen heartthrob David Cassidy to three months in rehab and five years of probation in a drunken driving case.

Cassidy's attorney, Steven Graff Levine, entered an open plea to a Los Angeles judge Monday, admitting that he was driving under the influence when he was arrested in January after making an illegal turn.

Levine says Cassidy has been in rehab and will remain for longer than his sentence requires. He says Cassidy is committed to his sobriety and wants to break the cycle that got him arrested for drunken driving twice in less than six months. A DUI case in New York was reduced from a felony to misdemeanor earlier this month.

Germany seizes cocaine-filled condoms destined for Vatican

German authorities have intercepted a package headed to the Vatican containing condoms filled with cocaine, the finance ministry said Sunday.

Officers at Leipzig airport found 12 ounces of the drug in liquid form that had been poured into 14 condoms and packed inside a shipment of cushions coming from South America, the Agence France-Presse reported. The narcotics were valued at $55,200,

The package was addressed to the main postal center at the Vatican.

"I can confirm the incident as reported," the spokesman said, German weekly Bild am Sonntag reported Sunday.

According to AFP, authorities handed the parcel to a police officer at the Vatican with the aim of laying a trap for someone trying to claim it.

The box had remained there since January, however, and investigators believe the intended recipient was likely tipped off that the package had been intercepted.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Charly Boy “When I Die”

Charly Boy, news

Article written by Charles Oputa. Enjoy
I was born in 1950's.

Before I was born, the universe came into existence with a big bang about some 4.6 billion years ago, our solar system formed. Life arose and lots of animals evolved. Somewhere on the continent of Africa, modern man arose, and spread across the other continents. Civilization blossomed, along with the domestication of animals, tools, technology, and information; I was oblivious to all of these events.
I didn't exist yet, but everything that ever happened in the universe, happened – and it went by in an instant. That "instant" spanned about 13 billion years. It could have been even longer, it doesn't matter, because to you and I, it was still an instant. We have the luxury of science and history to tell us of our universal past, but without that, the only recollection we could possibly have of anything is what we actually lived through.

What's the point?
The point is that when you die, it's likely the same thing. The only difference is that there is no "instant" at the other end for you to suddenly become conscious, like birth. Instead, time and events like the ones listed above will happen on their own, without you, just like they did before you were born. Time will go on until the end of the Universe, if there is, but you won't be able to know it
.
Should we be afraid of death?
I will freely admit that death itself does not scare me. The physical act of dying terrifies me. I don't want it to be painful, and I don't want it to be drawn out. I want peace and tranquility, like any other normal person would want. Though I am not afraid of death, the thought of it saddens me. I love life so much that it crushes me to think that I wouldn't be able to spend time with family and friends. Of course, losing a loved one is equally painful for the same reasons. It also saddens me that I wouldn't witness the next great advances in technology. Imagine the people of the 1800's; they could never have imagined BlackBerry, IPad, Facebook, Skype, Email etc. I'm in my 60′s now; can you imagine what kind of technology the human race will discover in the next century?

Now to the Koko of this matter, this is not to rattle your belief in Heaven or Hell and life after death, but just to make you think. After all what do I know, even as I write this I maybe so high, but it is my opinion and not yours.

It would be reassuring to know that there was some sort of life after death, but simply put, there is no real evidence for this, no matter which religion is scrutinized. In fact, it seems that people's life after death experience is biological in nature. After all, they can be simulated with drugs and put in a lab. It also seems very anthropocentric to believe that we are so special that we deserve an afterlife. There are all sorts of problems with life after death – based on religious views and different versions of "heaven" and "hell"; the concept of the soul; the age of the person (for example: do one day old infants get life after death?); animals (do they get to experience it too?)

Some people would be asking by now, which one be all this grammar sef?
We have got one life to live on this planet, just one. You should do everything in your power to enjoy it to the fullest, no slacking my guy and to make sure that everyone and everything around you has the same opportunity. So, what happens when you die? – I think the answer is mundane and simple, Nothing!

Exclusive: Rodgers tells players and fans to "keep calm and enjoy" rest of the season

Liverpool manager calls for cool heads on and off the pitch for title race run in

Brendan Rodgers watches his LFC players in training
Brendan Rodgers insists Liverpool need cool heads both on and off the field in their pursuit of Premier League glory as he told fans: "Keep calm and enjoy it."

The Reds boss is determined to ensure that the pressure of being involved in the title race doesn't impact on his side's scintillating form as they chase an eighth straight league win against Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday.

The stadium was gripped by anxiety during the closing stages of Wednesday's nervy 2-1 win over Sunderland but Rodgers wants supporters to embrace the situation the Reds find themselves in.

Second-placed Liverpool have dropped just five points at home all season and the Northern Irishman hopes "a real cauldron" awaits Spurs.

"My message to the fans is to enjoy it," Rodgers told the ECHO.

"We need the fans to stay calm. I know when you want something so much that's easier said than done.

"They haven't been in this position for a while. I can understand that sometimes there is that wee bit of trepidation and fear.

"But what we're looking to put in place here isn't just for one season. We're looking to put something in place for the longer term in order to have sustainable success.

"We're hoping that last season was the beginning. It maybe didn't seem that way in the first four to six months but we did a lot of the groundwork last year and we've been evolving ever since.

"The atmosphere at Anfield can be a real cauldron and now we really need our army of supporters to really get behind us.

"If a player makes a mistake then encourage him. That's so important because if they get that encouragement then they will get on the ball again.

"Amazing support at home is something we've had all season. Let's make sure in these last remaining games it continues along that way.  Don't be frightened to really enjoy it because as players and staff we will."

Spurs boss Tim Sherwood has questioned whether Liverpool have the mental stamina to win the title.

This may be new territory for many of Rodgers' squad but he has no concerns about his players' ability to cope during the run-in.

"Of course it's been a long time since we've been challenging at the top but I see the level of their work and their body language every day," he added.

"The players here are very relaxed and focused. It's one where we aren't expected to be where we are – that helps. There is certainly no pressure on ourselves.

"It's exciting for us. The club hasn't been in this position for a number of years and it's something we are embracing.

"My job is to ensure we retain that focus. We have put ourselves in a brilliant position and we've worked hard all year to arrive in this position.

"We just want to continue with this form.  At the moment our momentum is very good. We have got class in the team. At times you will lose momentum, but you can't lose class. Other teams may have more experienced players than ours who have won more titles than ours. But we have quality and we also have great hunger to succeed. That hunger can sometimes give you a real advantage. We are playing with no fear and we showed that in the main against Sunderland the other night."

Having analysed the hard-fought win over the Black Cats, Rodgers was more impressed than he was first time around.

"We were more comfortable than what it seemed," he said.

"Up until the 75th minute we were excellent. Probably because we've scored so many goals at home, 2-0 didn't seem like it was comfortable. But watching it again, we passed the ball with great precision and the movement was very good behind and in front of the ball. We were off target at times with our shooting but the composure in our game was very good. Of course after they scored a bit of anxiousness set in in the crowd but that's to be expected.

"What we showed was, one, resilience, and, two, even greater maturity to see the game through.

"That last little spell of the game with taking the ball into the corners was what I've been talking about to them – managing the game. The victory against a team who has beaten lot of big teams this season was an outstanding result for us. For three quarters of the game it was an excellent performance."

SHOCKING NEWS: Fire destroys Phoenix Theatre and Studio in Lewes

Fire crews feared asbestos in the roof could contaminate water in the area
A massive fire has destroyed a theatre and studio complex in East Sussex.

The blaze ripped through the Phoenix Theatre and Studio building on North Street in Lewes on Saturday evening.

The fire service received 23 calls from members of the public who spotted the blaze when it broke out at just after 18:00 GMT.

Fire crews were joined by Environment Agency staff who carried out tests to ensure there was no contamination from asbestos in the roof.

'Acrid smell'

Witness Adrian Sunderland said the Cliffe Bonfire Society had hired the newly refurbished theatre for an event.

"They were setting up in there and a band was setting up their instruments and equipment and all of a sudden we smelt burning, smoke with an unusual acrid smell," he said.

"We looked round and saw smoke pouring out of the corner of the theatre.

"We went running over with a fire extinguisher, thought 'well maybe it's just a small fire', went in and the whole building was just well alight."

Adrian Sunderland said his jumper was burned by falling embers

The blaze left behind just the shell of the building

Nobody was injured, a fire service spokesman said
Mr Sunderland said the group left the building and called the fire brigade.

He went into the building when everyone was out and his jumper was burned by embers falling from the ceiling, he added.

"Within a few minutes, the whole building just erupted into flames completely," he said.

"The speed at which it took hold was phenomenal."

'Sobbing'

Mr Sunderland said artists had lost their "entire life's work" in the studios upstairs.

"It's really heartbreaking for them," he said. "People were down here sobbing their eyes out this morning.

"It's a big tragedy for the whole community."

The fire was brought under control at 21:15, but there has been enormous damage to the building.

Nobody was injured, a fire service spokesman said.

He added: "This particular the incident had the potential of being quite disastrous.

"Thankfully the occupiers identified the fire early and we managed to make an intervention which, although there's significant damage to the building, we stopped the fire from spreading to adjacent areas."

The theatre and studios, on the Phoenix Industrial Estate, cater for arts and media projects and events.

Dynasty star Kate O'Mara dies

Speaking in 2013, she told the BBC's Rob Smith about her role in Doctor Who
Former Dynasty star Kate O'Mara has died at the age of 74, her agent said.

The British actress was best known for her role as sister to Joan Collins' Alexis Colby in the US soap.

She also had prominent roles in the '80s series Howards' Way and Triangle, and in Doctor Who.

Her agent said she died in a Sussex nursing home following a short illness.

He praised her "energy and vitality" and her "love for theatre and acting".

"A shining star has gone out and Kate will be dearly missed by all who knew and have worked with her," said agent Phil Belfield, who labelled the actress "extraordinary".

O'Mara's first television roles were in the 1960s, but she came to public attention playing the manipulative Cassandra "Caress" Morrell in Dynasty.

Co-star Joan Collins tweeted: "Tragic news about Kate O'Mara , we had great fun on Dynasty when she played my sister Caress... RIP."

O'Mara played a ruthless businesswoman in BBC drama Howards' Way and was briefly a regular on the North Sea ferry drama Triangle.

She also appeared in Doctor Who, opposite both Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy, as renegade Time Lord The Rani - a role she said she would love to return to.

"If you put a much older woman in Doctor Who, they can identify with it," she told Digital Spy ahead of the 50th anniversary celebrations for the show, where she tweeted images of herself with former co-stars.

"I think it's quite an interesting concept and if you remember things like Grimm's Fairytales, the older woman is often the villainess, often the terrifying figure - why I do not know, but often she is. I think it's an idea to be exploited."

In 1976, she joined Ernie Wise and Eric Morecambe on their long-running show

Speaking at the 50th anniversary celebrations, O'Mara said she would love to return as Doctor Who villain The Rani

The actress played Lady Windermere in Lord Arthur Savile's Crime alongside Lee Mead in 2010

O'Mara and fellow Dynasty star Joan Collins met the Queen at a Diamond Jubilee event celebrating the arts in 2012
On hearing the news of her death, Doctor Who co-star Baker tweeted: "Oh my goodness. Kate O'Mara is no longer with us. Sad sad news. A delightful, committed and talented lady and actress. We are the poorer."

In the 1990s, O'Mara starred in BBC comedy Absolutely Fabulous as Joanna Lumley's on-screen sister Jackie, and in 2001, she made a string of appearances in ITV drama Bad Girls.

More recently she had appeared in ITV soap Benidorm and a 2012 stage adaptation of Agatha Christie's Death On The Nile.

One of her final public appearances saw her hosting An Evening With Kate O'Mara in London last October.

She published two autobiographies and two novels, When She Was Bad and Good Time Girl.

She was married to actors Richard Willis and Jeremy Young and leaves a sister, actress Belinda Carroll. Her son Dickon died last year.

The actress last posted a message on Twitter on 17 March.

"Thank you so much for your kind tweets," she wrote.

"It's both humbling and completely overwhelming to read all of your messages. Much Love x."

Malaysia flight MH370: Chinese families vent anger

The BBC's Jennifer Pak in Kuala Lumpur: "The family members have come here for answers"
Relatives of Chinese passengers from the missing Malaysian plane have vented their anger at government officials, after arriving in Kuala Lumpur.

Chanting "Tell us the truth", they said they wanted the Malaysian prime minister to apologise for what they regard as misleading statements.

Eight ships and nine planes searched around 252,000 sq km (97,000 sq miles) of ocean for debris on Sunday.

The Beijing-bound plane disappeared on 8 March with 239 people on board.

International investigators have concluded that, based on satellite data, the missing Boeing 777 crashed somewhere in the southern Indian Ocean.

The search zone shifted on Friday after further analysis. But while aircraft continue to spot debris in the water, nothing recovered by ships has so far been verified as being from the plane.

Some relatives of the 153 Chinese passengers on board Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 have refused to accept the Malaysian account of events and blame the authorities.

On Sunday, several dozen family members travelled from Beijing.

After landing in Kuala Lumpur they held a news conference at a hotel holding up banners that read "We want evidence, truth, dignity" in Chinese, and "Hand us the murderer. Give us our relatives," in English.

Their designated representative, Jiang Hui, said they wanted the Malaysian government to apologise for the initial handling of the disaster, as well as for Prime Minister Najib Razak's earlier statement that indicated the plane had crashed with no survivors.

He said the conclusion had been announced "without direct evidence or a sense of responsibility".

He said the group wanted to meet airline and government officials face to face - although he stopped short of saying that these included Mr Najib, as some relatives had earlier suggested.

None of the objects retrieved by Haixun 01 or HMAS Success is thought to be from the missing plane
Before the relatives travelled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said the search for survivors would continue.

"The hardest part of my job is to see the families," he said. "I've always said we are hoping against hope that we will find survivors."

On Sunday, Malaysian officials cancelled their daily update on the search for a second day.

The objects recovered by Australian naval ship HMAS Success and China's Haixun 01 on Saturday had been examined and were thought to be fishing equipment and other flotsam, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (Amsa) said in a statement.

The BBC's Jon Donnison, in Perth, explains how a "towed pinger locator" is used
An Australian vessel carrying a US device known as a "towed pinger locator" is due to join the search in the coming days.

The device is designed to detect any ultrasonic signals - "pings" - from flight recorders and can operate up to a depth of about 6,000m.

But the search area is huge - covering some 319,000 sq km (123,000 sq miles) - and time is running short. The flight recorders' batteries are expected to run out in about a week's time.

The current search area is about 1,100km (700 miles) north-east of the previous zone.

Officials said the focus changed after radar data showed the plane had been travelling faster than previously thought, thus burning more fuel and reducing the distance the aircraft could have travelled.

Various theories about what went wrong have been suggested - including the captain hijacking his own plane.

The speculation was fuelled by reports that files had been deleted on the pilot's home flight simulator.

However on Saturday Malaysia's transport minister said investigators had found "nothing sinister" from the simulator.

Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 vanished less than an hour after taking off from Kuala Lumpur.

The airliner diverted off course and lost contact with air traffic controllers between Malaysian and Vietnamese air-traffic control areas.

Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham Liverpool top of Premier League

In summary

Fulham 1-3 Everton

Peterborough win JPT final 3-1

Open Get involved
All times stated are British Summer Time (BST)

18:00
Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham
Spurs are sixth, eight points behind fourth-placed Arsenal with six games to play. They are two points ahead of Manchester United in what is a battle for a Europa League spot.

17:58
Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham
So Liverpool lead the Premier League by two points from Chelsea. Both teams have six games to play, one of which is against each other at Anfield.

Manchester City are four points behind the Reds with two games in hand. They too have to travel to Merseyside.

Kallum Dillon: (external) Unfortunately for we Manchester City fans, Liverpool are looking unstoppable at the moment!

Bob Wetton: (external) Is there a player who deserves to lift the premier league trophy more than Steve Gerrard?

Ahmer Murad: (external) Eight in a row. Top of the table. Controlled, confident, clinical. It isn't just a dream any more.

Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham

"It's been an absolute stroll in the park, Liverpool won this game so easily.

Tottenham seriously contributed to their own downfall, they really seriously were hopeless. The Liverpool machine is well and truly rolling forward."

17:51
FULL-TIME Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham
Demolition over, Liverpool hammer Spurs to go top of the table with an eighth successive league win. Who's going to stop them? Chelsea, Manchester City; over to you.

17:51
Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham
The late Spurs revival continues as Christian Eriksen forces Simon Mignolet into a low save. What's the point of getting it together when you're 4-0 down?

Chris_lutton: (external) I get the feeling Sherwood's tenure as Spurs boss will one day be viewed in the same way we view Shearer's as Newcastle manager.

Akarim: (external) Meanwhile at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho has ordered to find the biggest and longest bus available to bring to Anfield!

Andrew Parker: (external) As appalling as Spurs are and have been, they are still above Manchester United. Think about that for a moment.

17:49
Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham
Roberto Soldado is once more rolling around on the floor as Anfield sings its way to the top of the Premier League. You'll Never Walk Alone. It's so bad that Soldado has to leave on a stretcher, meaning Spurs will finish with 10 men.

Tony Cocozza in London: Liverpool are flying but Tottenham have been pathetic. They have rolled over and had their tummy tickled. No fight whatsoever.

Alan in Birmingham: Tottenham have had some good wins this season but they've also had more genuine spankings than teams like Hull, Stoke and even West Brom.

Trevor in Cheltenham: And to think half the Spurs squad was linked with Liverpool. As a Liverpool fan, I am a lot happier they are playing for Spurs and not us!

17:46
Another Spurs chance, this time Michael Dawson heading over from a corner. Where was this 80 minutes' ago? By the way, now we're in British Summer Time, how good is it to see afternoon matches finishing in daylight?

Tell our players how good they are, rather than where they're weak. Rodgers has done exactly that at Liverpool, and look at the results.
17:44

Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham
Not much left for Spurs to endure, we're in to the final five in the evening Anfield sun. The visitors are, though, showing a little fight. Some overdue pressure results in Christian Eriksen firing over.

Iyke Roy: (external) Liverpool are just a delight to watch.

Ashley Wilkinson: (external) Liverpool? Bottling it? Not on this evidence.

mrwriterman: (external) Best thing about the Spurs performance? Younes Kaboul's eyebrows: more pace and movement than rest of the team.

17:39
Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham
Take that, Roberto Soldado. The Spaniard finds a rare hole in the Liverpool defence, but is absolutely poleaxed by Jon Flanagan. It's a bruising, no-holds-barred tackle, the sort your grandad will tell you was the norm in his day. It's fair, though, no question of a penalty. Final sub for Liverpool. Raheem Sterling off, Victor Moses on.

Kevin Smith: (external) Tottenham proving their inferiority against the top four again.

Liam Grayhurst: (external) To think that some Spurs fans thought that they wouldn't miss Bale. Deluded.

Josh Land: (external) Liverpool making Tottenham look like they're down to nine men.

17:37
Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham
So Spurs have shipped nine league goals to Liverpool this season without mustering a single reply. There's still time for more, too. The final 15 minutes or so of this game is basically an Anfield party, a celebration of their march to the summit. The only question is, how many will they get?

Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham

"Yet more shocking defending from Tottenham on the goal. There was a massive gap that the ball went through and 4-0 is about right."

17:32
GOAL Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham - Jordan Henderson (76 mins)
It's a thrashing, a one-sided procession to the league summit. It's Jordan Henderson bagging Liverpool's fourth, a curled free-kick from the left edge of the penalty area missing everyone and nestling in the bottom corner. There's some confusion over who should claim the goal, but Luis Suarez points to Henderson. If Suarez is not claiming it, it must be Henderson's.

17:29
SUBSTITUTION Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham
This time Steven Gerrard is withdrawn, replaced by Lucas Leiva. Before the Sturridge chance, Luis Suarez's ankle came into contact with Hugo Lloris's face. Suarez was chasing the ball, Lloris out to smother it. Lloris was always winning the race, so should Suarez have withdrawn?

Mags in Crewe: For both City and Liverpool it's a case of win all games and win the title. Whoever holds their nerve holds the trophy!

James: Is Mersyside becoming the new Manchester? Two teams challenging up the table but done on a smaller budget for once.

Andrew: Although he seems Like a genuinely nice guy, what exactly did Spurs expect to happen when appointing Sherwood? The phrase 'out of his depth' doesn't do it justice.

17:25
CLOSE! Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham
It's circus stuff in the Tottenham defence. Under pressure from Daniel Sturridge, Danny Rose slips to let the Liverpool striker in. Hugo Lloris is off his line, blocking Sturridge's cheeky backheel. All day, the Spurs defence has looked about as strong as a wet tissue.

Tom Chance: (external) As a Chelsea supporter, was a big fan of what Rodgers did with our academy. Always hoped he might step up to the top job. Alas.

Ahmer Murad: (external) So great to see Coutinho get one. Sterling deserves one, too. Help the goal difference along.

Chris Smudger Smith: (external) Credit to Liverpool. Great performance and fielding five English players. How many did Man City and Arsenal manage yesterday?

17:23
SUBSTITUTION Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham

It's not Gerrard who is withdrawn, rather Phillipe Coutinho in favour of Joe Allen. The Kop stands to salute the third goalscorer. As a man not old enough to remember Liverpool's last league crown, it's a strange sight to see the grand old club on such a charge.
Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham.

"Liverpool might start to think about getting Gerrard off to protect him. They could bring Lucas on. Mind you, they're so comfortable, they could bring Jan Molby on."

17:21
Do you still doubt that Liverpool can win the Premier League? They are the form team at the most important time of the season. More importantly, they seem to have belief. At the moment, they are sweeping all before them. Get these dates imprinted on your mind. 13 April, Liverpool v Manchester City. 27 April, Liverpool v Chelsea. Title deciders?

17:18
SUBSTITUTION Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham
"We're gonna win the league" chants the Anfield faithful. How long is it since they could sing that with such conviction? Amidst ear-splitting noise, Spurs withdraw Aaron Lennon and Nabil Bentaleb in favour of Andros Townsend and Mousa Dembele.

Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham

"Coutinho's basically passed it into the net with a bit of pace on it but there was a great run from Glen Johnson down the right that opened up the space for him. What on earth are Tottenham doing? I don't just mean defensively. Why didn't they make changes at half time to try to change the course of the game. If they lose 4-0 or 5-0, so what?"

17:13
GOAL Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham - Phillipe Coutinho (55 mins)
That's the ball game. Phillipe Coutinho wraps up the points with Liverpool's third and his first at Anfield this season. Again, it's so simple. Jon Flanagan cuts in from the left, feeding Coutinho midway inside the Spurs half. Unchallenged run, low right-foot shot past the dive of Hugo Lloris and nestling low in the far corner. It's a procession to the top of the table.
17:13

Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
Did I say it was easy for Liverpool? Not so easy for Jordan Henderson to hit the target. A lovely move on the right between Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge has the onrushing Hugo Lloris leaving an unguarded net. The ball is squared centrally to Henderson but, from the edge of the box with just one white shirt to pass, he fires over.

Conal from Derry: Does nobody realise that man city have two games in hand and a game against Liverpool. The title is city's to lose.

Billy in Glasgow: Liverpool were top just before Christmas if I remember correctly, then suffered a dip in form. Being top brings a unique type of pressure that no team this season has been able to handle. Can Liverpool see the job through to it's end? I'm not sure.

Bob in Chester: Maybe Spurs should sign Gary Lineker out of retirement. He'd be better than Soldado.
17:11

Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
It's hard to put into words how easy this is for Liverpool. Always a red shirt in space, the ball doing the work, never near a man in white. Tim Sherwood, in the stands, is on his mobile phone. Booking a summer holiday?

Alec Crutchley: (external) Liverpool and City this season are examples of the many virtues of replacing managers who can buy with managers who can manage.

James Roberts: (external) Spurs couldn't have looked more outclassed in that half. Liverpool looking solid for the title provided no injuries-suspensions.

James Blackwell: (external) Spurs fans: You are not awful. You are sixth in the league. Try supporting one of the bottom 10 teams.

17:08
Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
Dull start to the second half - Liverpool had already taken the lead this far into the first. Plenty of singing inside Anfield as Spurs chase red shadows. Suarez almost finds Jordan Henderson, but Michael Dawson intercepts.

17:05
If that is Leighton Baines (and, let's be honest, we've no reason to think it isn't), it's a brilliant picture. Did he spot the ice-cream van on the way to the team bus? Did he shout a round for the lads?

James Parkin: (external) Leighton Baines rewarding himself with a 99 flake.

17:03
KICK-OFF Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
We're back under way.

17:01
Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
The players are back out to the applause of the Kop. Is there a way back for Spurs? If not, Liverpool will be top of the Premier League tonight. Very clever banner from a Liverpool fan reads "Brendan - the Carefully Chosen One". Nothing like a dig at your biggest rivals, eh?

16:57
Table topping
Drink this sight in, Reds fans. Your team are going top of the table with six games to play. I'm told that, 50 years ago today, Liverpool beat Spurs 3-1 at Anfield to go top of the First Division, ultimately winning the league by four points. If true, it's a helluvan omen for the red side of Merseyside.

Elliot in Beaconsfield: I can't speak highly enough of Rodgers, completely changed how we play. But I do fear for him next year because of how high he has set the bar. Will he be able to get these kind of performances twice a week next year with this squad?

Boothy in Putney: The highest praise for Rodgers has to be for persuading Suarez to stay and the opposite for Wenger for not having got him.

Jake Carling: I can't see why Spurs fans are complaining - Arsenal were 4-0 down in twenty minutes at Anfield.
16:55

Super Suarez
Would you bet against Luis Suarez notching his 30th goal of the season in the second half? 29 already in the league this term in a campaign that started six games late because of suspension. Like or loathe the bloke, you can't deny his talent.

Zed: (external) For those who saw the same fixture last year, it's amazing to see the progress made by Liverpool and extent of Spurs' regression.

Andrew Soar: (external) Sherwood has a huge task at half-time. Some Spurs' players body language is awful. It needs to pain them more.

Simon Taylor: (external) Sherwood's plan to lull opposition teams into a false sense of security is to go 2-0 down before we start playing - clever!
HALF-TIME Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
Steve Wilson - BBC Match of the Day commentator.

"Liverpool are in the box seat and exactly where they want to be at Anfield. Younes Kaboul's own goal after two minutes put them ahead before a mistake from Michael Dawson, who had only been on the pitch for less than a minute, enabled Luis Suarez to score his 29th goal of the season."

Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham

"They got the perfect start with the Kaboul own goal so early in the piece and it sent Tottenham backwards. If Liverpool had gone in three or four up that would have been the tale of the half because it's been just so easy for them. Tottenham have got nothing, apart from, maybe, the goalkeeper. Spurs need a win, so they might as well lose 3-0 or 4-0. Why not come out in the second half and try to win it from here?"

16:47
HALF-TIME Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
The end of a first period that perhaps Liverpool could not believe would be so simple. Spurs were sloppy, Liverpool were rampant and are heading to the top of the shop.

Adnan van Cleverson: (external) Eriksen, stop passing to the other players! You're the only one who looks like scoring.

Chris Newman: (external) Surely Spurs have got to start offering us refunds soon. How many maulings should you watch in one season?

Alessandro Corbino: (external) Spurs are awful, especially going forward. Desperate for a striker that can put away chances. Think his first name was Jermain

Souce from BBC Radio 5 live's Mark Lawrenson at Anfield.
