FLASH BACK: 6 Actors Who Took Their Roles Too Far (From Starving Themselves to Breaking Bones!)

Being an actor requires one to go deep and, often times, lose one’s self in a role. Some actors take this very seriously; almost too seriously. From losing an excess amount of weight to not allowing themselves to break character long after the director yells cut, here are nine actors who took their roles too far.
1. 50 Cent
The Queens rapper lost up to 54 pounds in All Things Falls Apart to play a football player who gets diagnosed with cancer. Pictures of the emaciated “Wanksta” singer prompted most of the world to exclaim “He better win an Oscar for that mess!” The result? Do you know ten people that actually saw the film? Right.

2. Christian Bale

The actor lost an extraordinary amount of weight that veered on being dangerous for his health for his role in The Machinist. Ultimately, the starving did not pay off as the film was a box office flop. Womp, womp.

3. Jim Carrey

For one of his more serious roles, the funny man stayed in character throughout filming, alienating friends and family for his portrayal of Andy Kaufman in The Man on the Moon. The movie, however, did not do as well in ticket sales as hoped.

4. Robert DeNiro

When he took on the role of Max Cady in Cape Fear, he was so dedicated to his character’s appearance that he actually paid a dentist $20,000 to destroy his teeth to look as if he spent years in jail. DeNiro’s yuck-mouth seems to have paid off, as received Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for the role, which is still lauded today as one of the best characters on film.

5. Daniel Day Lewis

One of the more seasoned method actors, Lewis has continuallly taken things WAY left with his roles. While the list runs long for his wacky means of preparing for roles, two that stand out were etching tattoos into his own chest for The Crucible; and sitting in a wheelchair so long in between takes for My Left Foot that he actually broke one of his own ribs.

6. Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey

To get their super smooth beefy man-chests in the poor man’s movie version of Chippendale’s, both actors underwent some serious waxing time at the salon. At least they know the pain we felt after sitting through two painful hours of Magic Mike.

3 Celebs Who Came Out Exposing Too Much (These Outfits Were Sheer Fails!)

In an industry where it seems less is more when it comes to fashion, many celebs attempt various degrees of undress in order to get attention. They do it because you’re so bored with the usual, and have short attention spans—it’s ALL YOUR FAULT. Just kidding. But seriously, sometimes a low plunging neckline means headlines a la Jennifer Lopez in her infamous green Versace dress at the 2000 Grammys. Then sometimes it’s just one huge FAIL. And in recent years, those number of fails have skyrocketed!

An Egyptian court upheld the death sentences against Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed Badie and 182 of the group's supporters Saturday.
They were among hundreds of people found guilty in April of taking part in a deadly attack on a police station last year.

"Of 683 defendants in the case, 183 were sentenced to death, four were sentenced to life imprisonment and 496 defendants were acquitted," at Minya Criminal Court, state-run Ahram Online reported.

Ben Affleck's alleged addiction to gambling is reportedly starting to take a toll on his marriage to Jennifer Garner.
The actor, 41, has been spotted on numerous occasions at Detroit casinos when he's not filming his latest flick Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
A source told People, "[Jennifer] never understood his gambling obsession and she doesn't want him to be in the news [for it]."
The friend added: "[But] she's the most patient wife ever and is still very much in love with Ben."

The news comes after the Argo star was previously banned at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for allegedly counting cards two months ago.
However, since then he has been spotted frequenting the Detroit-area casinos when he's not on set.
While his wife is less than thrilled of her husband's habit, People's source claims their relationship still remains 'solid'.
Last weekend, Ben was spotted shopping with five-year-old daughter Seraphina for his upcoming anniversary on June 29.
A source told People: "Ben was very cute with his daughter and carried her around so she could look at all the jewelry. She especially liked jewelry and diamonds and wanted her mom to have diamonds. She was definitely in charge of the purchase, and Ben let her take her time. She was very sweet and happy about being out with her dad."
The father-daughter duo settled on an item and were seen leaving. The source claimed: "She wanted to hold the bag and Ben laughed and said no. He carried her out of the store on his shoulders and she kept laughing.

SPORTS: 49ers quarterback heeds coach's warning

49ers quarterback heeds coach's warningSANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh delivered a simple but emphatic message to his players as they gathered in a circle at the end of the team's three-day minicamp.

Following an offseason in which three key players were either arrested or were part of an investigation by police, Harbaugh warned the 49ers to be more aware of their circumstances and who they hang out with.
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick was one of the three players involved in off-field incidents.
Although Kaepernick was never charged and was cleared of any wrongdoing stemming from a possible sexual assault investigation in Miami, he said the incident left him more cautious about his life away from football.
''A lot more,'' Kaepernick said Thursday. ''Since I really started playing it's something I've been more aware of, especially in the past few months. It's something that obviously you have to be very aware of.''
Kaepernick and two other NFL players were investigated for an incident involving a woman at a downtown hotel in Miami in April. Kaepernick repeatedly denied that he had done anything wrong, and prosecutors decided earlier this week to drop the case and not charge any of the three players.

Later, 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport after authorities said he became belligerent during a security screening and threatened that he had a bomb.
That followed on the heels of San Francisco cornerback Chris Culliver's arrest in March on suspicion of felony hit and run and reckless driving after he drove a car into a bicyclist and fled.

Because the players are essentially on their own for the next month until training camp begins, meaning plenty of free time with little to no supervision, Harbaugh gave them a stern reminder to avoid trouble.

''Be aware of who you associate with, friend or foe,'' Harbaugh said, summing up his message to the players. ''There always seems to be a foe presence. Mainly, surround yourself with good people.''

Kaepernick has had to do that for reasons other than what happened in Miami. This month, the 2011 second-round draft pick signed a $126 million, six-year contract extension.

Already a target of defensive players on the field, Kaepernick and his new wealth became a target off the field the instant he signed the deal. Thus his emphasis on being more cautious.
''You want to keep good people around all the time, regardless of where you're at,'' Kaepernick said.
The 49ers wrapped up their mandatory minicamp with a brief workout in the afternoon.
Kaepernick played catch and joked with some of his teammates before turning serious during a 7-on-7 drill when he completed a handful of short passes over the middle and rifled a deep throw in traffic to wide receiver Anquan Boldin.
After practice ended, Kaepernick and several teammates engaged in a heated mini-basketball game inside the locker room. At one point, the quarterback glanced at the nearly two dozen reporters standing near his locker waiting for him then turned his attention back to the basketball game.
As the crowd near his locker continued to grow, Kaepernick retreated to the players' lounge for about 30 minutes to catch the latest on the World Cup before finally emerging to talk.
''For the most part I'm going to be me,'' Kaepernick said. ''Off the field you just have to look out for what other people's intentions are. I'm going to be more regardless.''
Boldin, fellow wide receiver Quinton Patton and Kaepernick worked out together in Florida during the offseason. Kaepernick and Boldin agree the time there was critical and beneficial to both.
''When we were down in Florida we got an opportunity to work together,'' said Boldin, who caught 85 passes for 1,179 yards and seven touchdowns during his first season with the 49ers. ''So our communication is a lot better. We're on the same page, we're seeing things and we're talking.''
NOTES: Harbaugh is still unsure whether Smith will be at training camp or not. He is scheduled to be sentenced on three felony weapons charges and two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence on July 25 - two days after the 49ers report to training camp and one day after their first practice. The pass-rush specialist is also facing a possible NFL suspension. ''That's to be determined,'' Harbaugh said when asked about Smith's situation. ''As you can see he's out here practicing, part of the team.'' ... Two-time Pro Bowl tight end Vernon Davis and right guard Alex Boone remained the most notable absences. Both players are seeking new contracts and did not take part in the mandatory minicamp.
