Frozen beats Toy Story III as highest grossed animated film of all time
Frozen has taken over Toy Story 3 to become the highest grossing animated film of all time. Prior to last weekend, Toy Story 3 was sitting in first place at the Box Office with $1.063 billion .
The new flick opened in Japan - one of the world's largest and most influential film markets - over the weekend and hit a record breaking $1.072 billion in box office revenue.
The musical fantasy comedy is also the 10 most successful global blockbuster in the world making over $398.4 million in the United States alone and an extra $674 million from other markets around the world.
Frozen was released in November of 2013 by Walt Disney Studios after being intricately created by a dedicated team of animators and visual effects artists, and received positive criticism instantly. It features the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad.
It also picked up Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Critics' Choice Awards as well as BAFTAs.
