The director Michael Bay has recentlY revealed that upcoming "Transformers: Age of Extinction" is not a sequel that follows previous films, but it is a launch pad for a completely new trilogy with new story or script and casts.
"We had three, the first trilogy, and this is going to be the next one. It's the first of a new trilogy. I'm not necessarily sure that I'm doing [the othERs], but that's what it's meant for", Bay said.
It seems that the Paramount studio has no uncertainty about the economic potentials of Bay's Transformers franchise. The third installment of previous trilogy, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, had turned out to be a blockbuster film with more than $1 billion worldwide. There are many critics, but audiences who loVe such films are greater in number. People desire to watch new interesting characters with every new installment in the franchise. Michael Bay also talked about new autobot Lockdown which is shown below, AND what is its role in the film.
Bay explained, "Lockdown is an interesting character. He travels the galaxy, he works for somebody else. And he's here for one person, one alien, and then he's out of here."
This upcoming Transformers film is already looking very captivating, as it develops the prospective battle of Age of Extinction further than the war between Autobot and Decepticon in previous 3 movies. Transformers admirers are definitely going to argue about the employer of new robot Lockdown, and whether or not that disclosure will turn out to be a lead to the Transformers 5 that is already underway.
