Survive the apocalypse in style with the Brabus Mercedes-Benz G500 convertible

German tuner Brabus has never met a Mercedes-Benz G-Class it didn't like, so its not surprising that the company has turned its attention to the G500 convertible.

The Brabus-tuned G500 convertible features a meaner-looking exterior, including Brabus' signature "Widestar" body kit, steel running boards, blackened headlights, and LED daytime running lights.

There are also bigger, flashier wheels with a matching spare mounted on the tailgate. Blinged-out rolling stock seems mandatory for tuned SUVs.

The G500 isn't all show and no go, though. The Brabus upgrade gives this convertible SUV 455 horsepower and 453 pound-feet of torque. Brabus says this will allow for a 0 to 62 mph time of 5.6 seconds, and a top speed of 143 mph.

On the inside, the G500 gets black leather upholstery and piano black and carbon trim to match the sinister exterior, plus a sport steering wheel.

The G-Class convertible was discontinued for the 2013 model year, and was never officially imported to the U.S., so getting one will be a bit of a challenge.

If four doors and a rear hatch seem too conventional, though, there's always the apocalyptic G63 AMG 6×6, which has also received the Brabus treatment.
