UK Politics Vote 2014: Local elections in England and Northern Ireland

Elections will be held in 161 councils in England and 11 brand new councils in Northern Ireland on Thursday 22 May 2014, the same day as voting in the European election.

Results are expected from 2200 on Thursday, and on Friday 23 May in Northern Ireland. Results from the European election are due from 2200 on Sunday 25 May, and on Monday 26 May in Northern Ireland.

In addition, five areas will hold elections for directly-elected mayors.
