It’s alive! W Motors’ 245-mph Lykan Hypersport makes some noise at Top Marques Monaco

The W Motors Lykan Hypersport is literally unbelievable.

After all, it's hard to believe that a 245-mph supercar from a Middle Eastern company no one's ever heard of exists as anything more than a headline and a mocked-up prototype.

Now, though, there's proof that the Lykan Hypersport is a car and not just a fantasy.

These videos show the Hypersport starting up and driving during its appearance at the 2014 Top Marques show in Monaco last week. It may not be storming a track at physics-defying speeds, but at least there'e evidence the car can move.

There's also the sound of that 3.7-liter turbocharged flat-six, which is as ferocious as the Hypersport's aggressive bodywork.

That engine was created with the help of legendary Porsche tuner Ruf, and reportedly produces 770 horsepower. That's enough for a 0 to 60 mph time of 2.8 seconds, and helps the Hypersport eclipse mainstream hypercars like the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 Spyder with a maximum velocity of 245 mph.

The Hypersport will also be rarer than any of those cars. Only seven will be made, although W Motors plans to build an entire factory in the United Arab Emriates to make them.

The price is as astounding as the performance: $3.4 million.

After that, W Motors has an even more extreme Supersport version planned, which would need at least 1,000 hp to truly outdo its predecessor.
