April 19, 2014 was a day to remember as the launch of the AMAA at 10 coffee table book was held at Oriental Hotel, Victoria island, Lagos. The Special Guest of the occasion was award winning Hollywood veteran actor, Danny Glover, who flew in all the way from the United States for the event.
Glover said after 10 years of AMAA, it is now time for film makers and professionals in the industry to collaborate with their counterparts in America, North America and South America to create a huge creative economy that will bring good monetary returns for them. He said he is working with newly formed Africa Film Academy and a number of initiatives that will bring global focus and right partnership to the business of film making in Africa.
Also present at the event was billionaire businessman Chief Sunny Odogwu, the Ide Ahaba of Asaba who was the chairman of the Occasion as well as other business leaders and Nollywood practitioners. AMAA might have started as a dream of Peace Anyiam-0sigwe but 10 years after it has grown bigger than the dreamer and is now a worthy continental and global project that all professionals in the motion picture industry should embrace. The AMAA Awards is slated for May 24th in Yenogoa, Bayelsa State and is set to be the most glamorous yet as all stops are being pulled to make this 10th Anniversary edition, an event to remember.
