The Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo
The Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, has expelled eight students and sanctioned twenty-two others over examinations malpractices and related offences.
According to a statement signed by Mr. Mathew Aligbe, registrar of the institution, about 54 students had appeared before a disciplinary panel set up by the management of the institution.
It was after the report concluded its investigations that the affected students were punished.
Mr. Aligbe said one of the students was asked to retake some courses while five others were let off with a warning.
He added that the 22 students who were sanctioned were apprehended with external materials in examination halls, adding that they were all made to sign undertaking never to indulge in such act.
He said the institution would deal with all such misconduct in order not to compromise its academic standards.
